🎓 Academic Mentoring ("We Educate")

Building Academic Self-Confidence & Long-Term Career Horizons

Our academic mentoring programme is individually tailored to provide support where it is needed most. Often, this involves tackling low self-esteem and developing confidence. Low self-esteem can manifest when students achieve below their potential in school tests — leading them to believe they are incapable of succeeding and becoming disengaged in class.

Unlike straight tutoring, the emphasis in our academic mentoring is on motivating the mentee, understanding and addressing the root causes of their difficulties, and steadily building self-confidence and self-worth in core subjects. For students with greater self-confidence, 1-to-1 tutoring motivates them to achieve higher by adapting existing skills to new contexts and sharing positive peer success stories.

🔭 How Sessions Work & Looking Further Ahead

  • ✓ Paced 1-to-1 Sessions: Informal discussions exploring strengths, hobbies, and sports alongside weekly 1-to-1 tutoring on mutually agreed subjects — paced carefully with praise so mentees never feel overwhelmed.
  • ✓ Goal Setting & Career Planning: Supporting mentees with structured goal setting, university pathways, and long-term career planning.
  • ✓ Professional Networking: Facilitating real-world exposure where mentors and mentees attend professional conferences, university visits, and career insight events together.

🧠 Skills-Based & Social Mentoring ("We Help")

Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Social Thinking & Life Skills

Research shows that Emotional Intelligence (EQ) — learning to perceive, control, evaluate, and express emotions appropriately in different social contexts — is just as important, if not more so, to lifelong success as IQ. Our skills-based mentoring equips young people with practical competencies to navigate modern academic and social life.

Core Personal & Employability Competencies Developed:
📖 Study Skills
🤝 Negotiation
💼 Employability
🏅 Leadership & Team
⏱️ Time Management
⚖️ Mediation
🕊️ Conflict Resolution
🧘 Stress Management
🧩 Problem-Solving

🎯 Social Mentoring Methodology

Our social mentoring combines evidence-based protocols from the social thinking curriculum, self-advocacy learning, applied behaviour analysis (ABA), and therapeutic approaches. Using games, play, recreation, creative workshops, and sport, mentors help mentees develop foundational social interaction skills, self-regulation, and the confidence to voice their needs appropriately.

Value-Based Mentoring — We Build Character
🧭 Dimension 3: "We Build"
🧭 Dimension 3: "We Build" • Value-Based Character Mentoring

Navigating Identity, Cultivating Empathy & Building Civic Character

Growing up across intersecting cultural traditions and fast-changing social expectations can leave young people grappling with deep questions about who they are and where they belong. Rather than leaving youth to face identity transitions or conflicting social pressures in isolation, our Value-Based Mentoring ("We Build") programme helps mentees appreciate how grounded ethical principles serve as a compass for confident, harmonious living.

Five Core Character Qualities We Cultivate:
💛 Care & Compassion
🤝 Empathy & Tolerance
🌍 Social Responsibility
🪞 Self-Reflexivity & Awareness
☀️ Resilient Positivity

🌱 How We Bring Values to Life

Through relatable positive role models, exposure to diverse social and cultural environments, outdoor nature retreats, reflective group discussions, and community service initiatives, mentees develop lasting character without fear or internal conflict.
